How much do you charge?

The price depends on size of the puzzle, amount of theme material you’re looking for, level of difficulty, and turnaround time required. If you want something very specific for a particular person, it will take me much more time than if you just want a simple puzzle for a magazine, for instance. Similarly, 15x15 puzzles are easier to make than 21x21 grids.

Prices range from $500-$2000, depending on what you’re looking for. Please contact me for a quote!

How many of my specific words can you fit in a puzzle?

I make New York Times-style puzzles. Please note that not every entry in the grid will relate to your subject. For a standard 15x15 puzzle, the longest 3-5 entries will be theme-related. (For a 21x21 grid, that can be 5-8 entries). I will work with you to create a theme set that you are happy with before moving on to the grid.

For a deluxe puzzle, I will create a custom word list to help me squeeze as many personalized entries as I can into the grid besides the theme entries. All of this will require a back-and-forth over email, and your help answering questions about your theme or the person you’re honoring.

When do I pay?

I ask for a 50% down payment before starting, and will send you the files you need after receiving a full payment. I’ll be checking in with you at every step of the way, and I won’t ask for the full payment until you are satisfied with the product.
